Women in Technology, Molly Efron Scholarship Fund Molly Efron was an incredibly optimistic person who led a very balanced and full 46 years of life. Molly was an early member of TWA and a great role model for technical women at Xerox. She was the mother of two young girls and the wife of Alan Efron who is currently an executive with Xerox Capital Services. Molly died in 2000 after a long battle with cancer. After receiving her MBA from Carnegie Mellon Business School in 1979, Molly joined Xerox in operations management at the Corporations Irvine, California remanufacturing facility. She was the first Xerox woman to run a manufacturing facility during the 1980s in Webster. In 1989 she pioneered part-time job sharing at Xerox to stay home with her first daughter, Eve, while maintaining responsibility for $250 million in annual procurement at Xerox. When the Business Divisions were formed in 1992, Molly was selected for a key job of Product Manager having full design, manufacturing, and marketing responsibility for Segment 5 Departmental equipment. Molly continued to advance at Xerox through the 1990s, and was Vice President of Quality for the Office Document Products Group during much of her illness. TWA initiated the Molly Efron Scholarship Fund with $5,000 and we have grown it to approximately $41,000 at the end of 2006 by many generous donations. We are looking to our membership and supporters to help meet our goal of $50,000 to establish the fund on a go-forward basis. If you are able to support this scholarship and help provide scholarships for women pursuing higher education degrees in technology fields, please send your donation to: Womens Foundation of Genesee Valley 1530 E. Avenue c/o Molly Efron Fund. Rochester, NY 14610 Molly was truly a woman of excellence and ambition. Her memory and legacy will serve as a guide to future female leaders at Xerox. We hope to support the next generation of women in technology in her name. We look forward to you joining us in this worthwhile cause to build our future on the achievements of the past. |
